Broken Bow Evangelical Free Church is a vibrant evangelical church located in the center of rural Nebraska, the county seat of Custer County. We believe there is no place in the world which compares with the beauty and quality of life our area offers. A relatively large county, Custer County is chiefly comprised of 14 communities with a total population of almost 11,000. Broken Bow is a charming town with a big heart in a very progressive community with many new businesses and facilities. We maintain a small town atmosphere where ‘everybody knows your name.’ Farming and ranching are very important to the livelihood of many families, and the overall agriculture industry is also an integral part of the economy.
Custer County gets to experience all four seasons. With those seasons there are generally mild temperatures with occasional extremes. We have snowy winters, green and rainy springtime, beautiful warm summers, and colorful autumns.
No matter what the season, Broken Bow has something for everyone: an aquatic center, softball and baseball complex, soccer fields, indoor/outdoor tennis facilities, a fishing pond, picnic and camping facilities, and numerous playgrounds. There are also hunting opportunities, a 3-plex movie theater, a 49 acre Fairground facility, and many shopping and dining choices. We have an outstanding school system and a community college. Our community just passed a 26.5 million dollar bond to invest in our schools. The local hospital has a number of quality health professionals.
Just outside of city limits, Broken Bow Evangelical Free Church sits on over five acres surrounded by beautiful grass and trees. We currently have about 200 people joining in worship on Sunday mornings. We are seeking a senior pastor who has an authentic living, breathing, dynamic relationship with God. That someone has a strong calling of God and is capable of bringing His presence home to our congregation. Our PastorNext is someone who is in tune with the Holy Spirit, seeks and knows how to hear God’s voice, and practices personal spiritual disciplines. He is a leader who desires to live out the Great Commission and the Great Commandment and is able to inspire others to join in the mission and vision of our church. Our area is ripe for transformation and our new senior pastor should be gifted in creating a climate and environment where people grow spiritually into fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ.
We need a dynamic person who reflects the Biblical description of a spiritual leader with a servant’s heart. PastorNext has highly effective communication skills and the ability to connect with people both from the pulpit as well as in person-to-person interactions. Powerful preaching is highly valued here. We seek Biblically based messages that are delivered in a way that reaches people where they are and help them grow in their faith.
Our congregation has a wide range of ages and a strong AWANA and youth ministry. Our church also supports the Little Lights Pre-school, which holds classes in our Challenge Center, teaching children and reaching families. We are seeking a pastor who recognizes these young people as Christ’s future church and who shares in our love for them. Our men’s and women’s ministries are actively striving to equip people with a real and growing relationship with Christ. BBEFree has a real passion for Missions. We support several long-term, overseas missionaries as well as church members on short-term missions trips.
Our senior pastor will have a solid experience in leading a vibrant church through growth. We need a leader who can identify, recruit, and develop leaders and staff. PastorNext can articulate, communicate and implement a vision – all under the mantle of prayer and spiritual guidance. His home life, with strong attention to family, should complement his church ministry life. His personal life needs to be balanced – physically, mentally, and emotionally. Our pastor will also have a warm and steady character, an obvious love for people, and a real and open nature.
